Useful flat info
Wifi – The broadband connection (router in entry way behind the door where the boiler is) is solid throughout the flat if you leave all doors in the flat open. The name is “randywifi” and the password is “72hrAndolphAve”.
Rubbish – Recycling rubbish (paper & plastic) you can collect in the see-through bags (lowest drawer left of cooking plate) and put outside on the curb every Sunday eve and Thursday eve. It gets picked up the next day.
All the other rubbish – we use the trash bin in the flat and when it is full, you can bring it downstairs; as you exit the main entrance door, you turn right and go down the next set of stairs of #74, there to the very right is a door where you can leave the rubbish bag inside. The bags are solid white and in the fourth drawer to the left of the cooking plate. If not, please leave a note for the cleaner and she will provide new ones.
Cleaners – For stays longer than a week, the cleaner comes every Wednesday from 1 pm – 2.30 pm to tidy up and to change sheets and towels for you. You can leave notes for her if you have any special needs or requests. We can also make changes to that arrangement, depending on your length of stay. Upon your departure, we will arrange for the final housekeeping, which includes taking off bedsheets etc. to make sure you can fully enjoy your time in your Sanctuary.
Main bathroom – This natural stone clad space offers floor heating (always on, so you do not need to do anything), towel heated rack (also always on), a large vanity and a Toto toilet that caters to your health and well-being.
There are few things that you may want to know:
-
The four buttons outside the bathroom door to the right are: (1) ceiling light, (2) shelf light, (3) window blinds, (4) fan
-
Overhead Shower: please turn both knobs clockwise and once water is running return the right knob to its closed position.
-
Handheld Shower: turn the right knob clockwise and that’s it.
-
London water is quite hard, and it will be very tough for the cleaner to remove the limescale unless you squeegee (on shower shelf) the glass after each shower. Thank you!
Washer/Dryer – Building hours for appliances are between 9 am and 9 pm. When you have a full load (please don’t run the machines on less than that, as during the spinning cycle the machines will otherwise start to move and make a lot of noise for the neighbours), there are washing liquids on the top shelf for your use.
-
When you wash, pls make sure you do this WHILE you are in the apartment so there is no unsupervised leak.
-
Be sure to turn the machines back to an “Off” position when you have finished washing/drying
-
For your convenience: you can also leave your wash for our cleaner when she comes, just let her know that the washing machine has a full load ready to be started. She will fill in the washing liquid and both wash and dry your items on your behalf.
Washer: Best is to choose “Delicates” and tap “Ok” when the display brings up bits like weight etc. and then press “start/stop”. Make sure it is finished before you open the door back up.
Dryer: Have it on “Cottons” and press “Start/Stop”. Once finished, please take out the lint and empty the water container before your next wash.
Bedroom – London has a lot to offer, so you probably don’t plan to sleep much. But if you do, you’ll enjoy this quiet room facing private gardens. To have a darkened sleeping area, simply use the chain to bring down the blackout blind.
-
The right closet space is fully dedicated to your use.
-
The ceiling fan remote control is in the left bedside cupboard.
-
USB sockets are below the right bedside cupboard.
Balcony – To open the large windows to the balcony, the key for the locks is in the upper drawer to the right of the cooking plate. Beware: It is easy for others to step onto the balcony. For your own safety we recommend that you close & bolt down the balcony doors before leaving the living room area.
Kitchen – Hungry but tired of all the great restaurants in the neighborhood?
-
The cooking plate – when not in use, the switch on the wall is in an off position. Once you switch it to on mode (it lights up), press the round circle on the plate itself until the entire cooking plate is on. You can then choose an individual plate and adjust the right temperature by using your fingers on the plate + and – signs.
-
There is an oven and an integrated microwave for you to use. For any instructions, they are in the right drawer next to the cooking plate.
-
Feel free to use any of the food in the cupboard. There are also tea bags and coffee capsules in the cupboards for your enjoyment.
-
Keep in mind that the kitchen surface and sink is made of natural stone, which can be permanently stained by if you leave any colorful foods, wine, or tea bags on it.
-
Hot water – We have a Quooker that makes life wonderfully easy if you want hot water instantaneously. You need to press down the ring on the faucet twice and turn it counterclockwise. BE CAREFUL: the water comes out scalding hot. As in boiling.
-
Dishwasher – All you need to do is to add one of the tablets (in cupboard below sink) and insert it into the dishwasher pocket in the door. Then press ‘Start’. Please do not change the setting, it is all ready for you.
A few quick ‘house rules’
-
No shoes pls – we remove our shoes when inside the flat and ask guests to do likewise. Our neighbor in the flat below greatly appreciates it.
-
The building has a non-smoking rule throughout, that includes balcony, entry porch or directly outside the main entrance.
-
Do not climb on ladders or chairs. Shelves above reaching height serve as supplies storage, and there is no access to the loft storage except for management and cleaning staff.
-
Please use coasters for glasses/cups/drinks on all surfaces. Extra coasters are in the third drawer next to the oven in the kitchen.
-
Please lock both the upper and lower lock on the apartment door and lock all windows whenever going out. Even though you are in a safe neighborhood, you are in central London and break-ins are unfortunately a common fact when there is opportunity.
